Q: What is the intelligent tool?

A: The tool is typically an electronic device that remotely operates Intevia® intelligent fastener mechanisms via the electronics control system. It is anticipated that there will be many types of tools, suited to different fastener mechanism types, applications and manufacturing/service environments. The word tool is used to describe any device that an operator would use to effect the remote activation of an intelligent fastener.

Q: How does the intelligent tool communicate with the fastener?

A: The tool communicates with the electronics by a wired or wireless network connection.
